The last week of January me and my friends went to Bulgaria to celebrate that we had ended our exams. We spent there 6 days in an apartment in Sofia, the capital and we also visited Rila and Plovdiv. Due to the fact that it was winter, the temperatures were from -3ºC to -13ºC. It was really cold but also, everything looked amazing with the snow.
We booked our aparment in Airbnb and it was a 8-people-flat located at 10 minutes of the Cathedral. It was super big, close to a little supermarket which was really helpful during our stay. Here I put the link just in case: https://www.airbnb.es/rooms/2389679?guests=8&adults=8
As we were almost a week and we did not know what to visit in Bulgaria, we decided to book some trips on advanced. We booked a day trip to Rila Monastery and Boyana Church, both part of the UNESCO. Later, I will explain it more detailed.
The first days we explored Sofia. For that, we did a Sofia Free Tour and the Sofia Cultural Tour. They are done by the same company and, the first one, they do it everyday and it is totally free, at the end, if you have liked you give them a tip. (The meeting point is at the Palace of Justice at 11am.) However, the Cultural one, they do it Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays and it costs 11€. We did the Free Tour the first day to get used to the city a little bit and it was really fun, the guide was really enthusiastic while explaining and made it really appealing. And on Friday we did the Cultural Tour. They gave us typical Bulgarian food, drinks and our guide even taught us how to dance.
We also visited Plovdiv. We went by bus (2h) and it cost around 7€ (just go). It was a really beautiful village. The houses were lovely and there was one amazing amphitheater but, unfortunately, it was closed.
